Phoenix Dance Theatre is now also a study option in the new GCSE Dance examination.
The Phoenix Academy NE provides access to dance training of the highest level and quality in Contemporary Dance. It will provide opportunities for young people to explore contemporary dance technique appropriate to their age and development, whilst creating an environment in which highly motivated individuals can extend their skills and explore their potential with regards to pre-vocational training. Technique and performance are the key elements of this programme.
The Phoenix Academy NE dancers will meet for two 1.5 hour sessions per week, one technique based session and the other focusing on choreographic development of the companies current work. All sessions will be delivered by Phoenix Dance Theatre personnel, both past and present.
What we provide:
Undertake a minimum of three hours training over two classes per week;
Receive regular opportunities to perform in theatres regionally and nationally, at times alongside Phoenix Dance Theatre and the Leeds Phoenix Academy;
Two intensive weeks per year with Phoenix Dance Theatre teachers and
Individual mentor support and progress tutorials;
Advice and guidance with regards to the application process for vocational training;
Weekly classes take place during school term times as follows:
Mondays 18:00 to 19:30hrs
Wednesdays 18:00 to 19:30hrs
Membership/Tuition fees are £4 per hour/£12 week
Autumn Term – 12 weeks
Spring Term – 10 weeks
Summer Term – 10 weeks
